Downpour

Newborns πŸ™‚

A deluge of thoughts; I lie in the darkness trying not to drown.

A tiny thing,

like a drip, like a caterpillar dodging the heels, probing the cracks,

longing;

dreams of butterflies ache, play in my head,

until sadness settles me back, finds me again.

I will fly freely.

Too distant to imagine.

Fluttering past the wilting flowers I see on this lawn.

I know I haven’t been around much, except for on Twitter, so thank you for taking the time to read. xoxo

  7. I always appreciate your time here Kelly πŸ’•

  8. Haunting and beautiful, Kelly. You write so honestly and I hope that the sadness is momentary. It’s often so hard to find the time or the energy to share in this format, but it’s always meaningful to those of us who read your posts. Be well! ox

    • Thank you, Debra. Yes, it’s tough!
But when I can open up here, the support I receive is like more light coming into my life and I’m very grateful for that. There are so many incredible, talented, caring people here (like you) it is overwhelming. xo

  9. Oh, shoot, I remember that song. I would never admit to anyone that I liked it as much as I did. I thought it would seem ‘girly.’ I was a young dope. I’ve since been liberated from my vanity and ego.

  10. Appreciate the sentiment in this post.
Nice to see you back!! πŸ™‚

    • Hi doc Thank you! Always good to see you, hope all is well. And don’t be a stranger on Twitter! 😊

      • My blog posts automatically go to twitter, but I rarely go on that site. I’m not a big social media person, but I probably should learn to become one. Thank you for the suggestion.

      • Honestly doc, it’s just an easier social media platform than the blog. 😊

      • I’m so new to this social media. I haven’t taken the time to really maximize its benefits. Certainly open to suggestions. If it requires more of a lengthy explanation, feel free to email me at jncthedc93@yahoo.com

      • I don’t really know anything more than you, Jonathan, other than people use social media for varying reasons. It’s a creative outlet for me, both with my pen and with my lens more so on Twitter… just a way to share things when I can. πŸ™‚

  11. This is hauntingly beautiful but filled with sadness…the feeling of hope seems fleeting. I hope you are okay…hugs xx

    • It is sad, I’ll shoot for something more uplifting next time! Just wanted to be authentic about struggles I face in a few words… there’s a lot of hope in there too, but yes, it’s not easy. Thanks for the visit Annika, I hope you have a lovely Mother’s Day. ❀

  12. Beautiful words. Thank you.

  13. It’s been forever since I’ve visited you. And such a melancholy post! (And beautifully stated, too.) Here’s hoping you get to fluttering soon!

    • Hi Mike Thank you! I ‘fluttered’ all over last weekend, as a matter of fact, between a graduation, a wedding, and Mother’s Day. I’m so exhausted. (And broke!) Thanks for the visit 😊

  14. Your poem is beautiful and the butterfly reference is close to my heart and so touching. Thank you kelly for you writing this incredible poem. πŸ™‚
