Sliding beneath black water,

I set my fragile sanity adrift in unknown places.

Lapping against my shoulders,

wind-blown ripples cool my skin.

I breathe, I release, I shudder, I stand —

beads of oil streak, glisten in the night.

And with my finger’s lightest touch,

a neutral gaze,

the faintest sigh…

I write upon the breaking surface:

I needed this.

  3. Wow 😍 Beautiful, Kelly!

  4. Ooh, I’d like to be quenched, please. This had just the right touch, Kelly.

    • Hi Amy! Thank you! I have a real affinity for water… wish there was more of it out your way. The fires burning in your state are so sad to hear about, especially the one in Big Sur which is one of my favorite places in the world. I sure hope there aren’t any close to where you live.

      • Big Sur is one of my favorite places on Earth so I’m pretty sad about these fires. They are pretty far from me, but we got lots of smoke from them. It was bad for a while. Hope you’re doing well, Kelly! xo

      • So happy to hear you aren’t in any danger although the smoke must be hard to deal with. I’m doing well, thanks. Being hassled to go buy school supplies right now… It’s that time of year as you know! 🙂

      • I do know! And I’m not ready at all. 🙂
